Finding The Right Franchise Fit
You need to face the fact that it’s probably going to take longer than you think to find the right* franchise to buy.
*The right franchise for you.
In a nutshell, there are several possible reasons you haven’t had any luck finding a franchise opportunity that hits all the cylinders. They include:
1. A lack of focus
You may be spending hours and hours on your computer or Smartphone clicking popular franchise opportunity websites, with the only goal being to find “The One.”
As if the perfect, amazingly profitable, no way you can lose your money franchise business opportunity listing is literally going to jump off a web page right into your hands. Riiiight. Like that’s going to happen.
My point is that until you know what you’re looking for…until you have created a few lists that will help you whittle your choices down to franchises that may be a good fit for you, you’re going to remain frustrated.
I can teach you how to make those lists, and how to use them-so you can choose the right franchise.
2. Fear
Admit it. You’re afraid of losing your money. You’re afraid of picking the wrong franchise.
A franchise opportunity that looks good on the outside, but turns out to be one, big nightmare.
One one hand, you have the right to be scared. The franchise industry is not perfect. There are franchise opportunities that are just plain lousy.
In addition, there are people in my industry who lie and deceive.
And please don’t get me started on these people.
Conversely, there are good, honest people in the franchise industry who can help you make a smart decision on a franchise to buy. Who can teach you how to lower your financial risk. Who can show you how to target legit, profitable franchise opportunities. Use them. They’ll help you sleep better at night.
3. Readiness
It may turn out that you’re just not ready to become the owner of a business. It’s okay; most people aren’t small business owners. They’re employees.
As a matter of fact, if you’re currently employed, and you’re reasonable happy, maybe you should stay put. Being an employee isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
But if you’re sick and tired of helping your boss reach his or her financial goals, like I was, and you feel franchise business ownership is something you should look into, there’s no time like the present. But you need to be ready. It takes time, money and energy to become a franchise owner.
From a recent article I wrote for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s blog:
“’If it was so easy, everyone would do it.’” That’s a true statement, especially when it comes to being the active owner of a franchise business. Most franchises require their owners to be active — to be working in the business.”
Are you ready?
If You Haven’t Found The Right Fit In A Franchise, Do This
