A Survey On Turning Back The Clock Says
I found an interesting survey that was done by The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. (AAFPRS)
The AAFPRS survey targeted approximately 500 women between the ages of 45–60 to find out what they thought about the changing face of age 50.
The survey revealed that women are more open than ever to both surgical and nonsurgical treatments that slow down the visible signs of aging. According to the survey, 72% of the women had tried skin peels, 50% of them had had injections of neurotoxins or fillers, and 15% of them had cosmetic facial surgery.
The takeaway: More women are more open about spending money on services and products that can turn back the clock and help them look 10 years younger. But, there’s more.
The survey also revealed that 70% of women stated that a milestone birthday did impact the way they felt about their appearance. 24% percent were most concerned with looking their real age, with sagging cheeks or eye bags (39%), fine lines and wrinkles (33%) and the dreaded “turkey neck” (28%) topping their list of concerns. What about the spending habits of wealthy Americans? Are they spending their money on treatments and products to make them look younger?
Unity Marketing did a survey which examined the spending patterns of wealthy Americans and found that “The rich are becoming more cautious and keeping those platinum cards in their wallets.” But Unity Marketing President Pam Danzinger says there are a few spending category outliers.
For instance, spending on beauty services increased a whopping 26.5% last quarter, “one of the top growth categories in the fourth quarter,” Danzinger says in a report accompanying the survey. “Luxury consumers spent more on spa/salon beauty services in the fourth quarter, showing they are still willing to invest to keep up appearances.”
