The Texas-based men’s and boy’s hair care provider who just reached a “billion dollars in haircuts” after franchising for only 16 years, is looking for franchise owners in the “Rock and Roll Capital of the World.”

Currently, Sport Clips has 23 stores in Ohio, including 2 in the Cleveland market. There’s obviously room for more locations in the Cleveland area, which is why there’s an investor meeting for those interested in owning a Sport Clips store. (A Sport Clips Seminar.)

The meeting being held on Sept. 27th will provide information on Sport Clips’ plans for development in the Cleveland area. The seminar leader, Dick Mueller, Area Director of Ohio, will discuss Sport Clips as a franchise investment strategy and reasons why Sport Clips is growing in a down economy. The event is open to the members of the public interested in seeking exit strategies from the corporate world and in diversifying their financial portfolio.

The Sport Clips business model rocks because new franchise owners can keep their current careers and hire managers to run the business. There aren’t many franchise business opportunities available that allow that.

Think about it; you get to keep your job while your franchise business is growing! Some Sport Clips owners prefer to keep their jobs and never work “in” the business, but hire managers instead.  They have a choice as to get involved, as much or as little as they wish… Investing in a franchise that allows you to do that can really take some of the pressure off of you as you become the owner of a new franchise.

Sport Clips is the fastest-growing concept in the $60 billion hair care industry; they’ve doubled in size in just 4 years and currently have over 807 stores nationwide. They plan on opening more than 120 new stores across the US next year and have 1,000 open by 2013, if not by 2012.

One reason for their growth is the fact that Sport Clips franchises look like no other hair care franchise, “sporting” large screen TVs tuned to sports channels in the lobby and at each cutting station. CEO Gordon Logan says that, “Clients get a unique, ‘just for guys’ haircutting experience in a fun, sports-themed environment.”

By specializing in men’s and boys’ hair, we’ve been able to focus and refine the client experience over and above that which is available in other concepts,”  Logan said. He added that “We’ve developed a unique hot towel treatment during the massaging shampoo, added anti-fatigue floors for Stylists’ comfort, and installed heated massaging shampoo chairs to create the ultimate client experience for men and boys. That’s how we achieved this milestone of $1 Billion in sales, and how we will achieve our second billion within the next three to four years.”

Why Should Clevelanders Attend?

Sport Clips franchises:

  • Are aimed exclusively at the 150 million men and boys who have no other great men’s hair cut franchise to go to and are looking for a place to call their own
  • Are not subject to wide fluctuations in the economy
  • Have low startup costs and low overhead
  • Don’t require industry experience
  • Offer cross-promotion opportunities with local sports teams

In addition, Sport Clips has ranked in the top 50 “fastest growing” for the seventh straight year in Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Franchise 500”, in the top 10 in Forbes’ “Top 20 Franchises To Start”, and in the top 50 in Dun & Bradstreet’s AllBusiness.com “2011 AllBusiness AllStars”.

Over the next five years, an estimated 30 stores are projected to open which have the potential to create approximately 360 new jobs in the Cleveland community.
