In the past couple of months, lots of corporations and individuals have come up with different ways to donate to Haiti. Obviously, most of the donations to Haiti have been because of the recent earthquake.
Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, and has been the recipient of financial aid for years. A major natural disaster like the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit this island nation in January, only adds to the misery that a significant portion of the population there endures on a daily basis.
The children of Haiti are it’s future, and finding ways to get them educated is paramount. Little things mean a lot…
In our country, it’s becoming the norm to have banks of computers available in our schools. Our kids are starting to use them at a younger age, and by the time they are entering junior high school, a lot of them are pretty proficient at using them for schoolwork.
In a poor country like Haiti however, getting food and having shelter are the real priorities, and they’re even more important after January’s devastating earthquake. Computers and school are probably not top of mind right now for most Haitian parents.
Life goes on, and kids still need to learn. Computers are an important tool for them.That’s where TeamLogic IT, a technology services franchisor out of California comes in.
(Disclosure; I help them find franchisees, and get paid a finder’s fee upon successful placement of them)

From a recent press release;
TeamLogic IT, based in Mission Viejo, California, and four of its franchise locations recently donated used computers to a global effort to bring computers and English language learning programs to orphans in Haiti. The program is being coordinated by EDUplus, which has partnered with Pwoje Espwa, a children’s orphanage in Haiti.
The computer donation program was conceived by a graduate of a Phoenix youth-at-risk program. His then mentor, now the founder of EDUplus, Paige Orlowski explained, “When he told me he wanted to go to Haiti and be ‘a part of something bigger than the United States’, we spent a long time talking and he decided that English and computer skills are the most important tools for looking for a job so he came up with the idea of collecting donated computers and Rosetta Stones to install in the library at Pwoje Espwa.”
In addition to the TeamLogic IT corporate office based in Mission Viejo, Calif., the following four TeamLogic IT business owners have donated computers: Rob Fallows and Chris Cioffi of Phoenix, Ariz., Gary Gaw of Centennial, Colo., Steve and Elaine Giordano of Westlake, Ohio, and Davis Merrey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma who’s donation was contributed by their customer, Redbud Financial Group.
Way to go, TeamLogic IT!
There’s also an extra “feel-good” part of this story, for me. My franchise consulting guidance and coaching services were used by Steve and Elaine Giordano, who ended up becoming franchisees of TeamLogic IT.
They’ve only been in business since the end of last year.
(It’s not like they’re raking in the money yet)
Do you know of any franchise organizations that have done some similar things? Do tell.
