People make the decision to buy a franchise business for many different reasons. Making the decision to become a franchise owner, (or any type of business owner) is a major one. It involves risk, of course, but it involves so much more.
If you're about to take the leap, and become your own boss, I commend you. You're a courageous soul.
Over the years, I've heard many different reasons from folks, who've been interested in exploring the great business model of franchising. Would you like to know why folks decide to buy a franchise?
One reason that I've heard over and over again, is this one;
"Joel, I'm so damn sick of traveling all the time." I never see my kids, or my wife. Dealing with the airlines is getting to be more painful than ever, and quite frankly, I'm really burned out."
Are you surprised to hear that "travel burnout" is a popular reason for someone to want to get into a business of their own?
Are You a Traveler?
If you do happen to be one who travels a lot, I'm about to introduce you to a brand new resource that features reviews of all sorts of fantastic travel-related things, to help ease your travel pain. Check out Chris Brogan's new website. Man On The Go Chris was recently featured, (along with 14 other entrepreneurs) over at another friend of mine's website, The Rise To The Top.
So, why would something like "travel burnout" cause someone to want to invest $200,000 into a franchise business of their own? Seems kind of extreme, doesn't it?
Couldn't someone who's sick of traveling just get another job that doesn't require any travel? It certainly sounds like less drastic of a solution.
I can hear it now;
"Honey, I'm really burned out. I don't want to travel all over the world, anymore. I'm really thinking about buying a franchise."
Here's more of that conversation.
In Part 2, we'll discuss another popular reason to buy a franchise. This may be a good time to subscribe to my blog, so you don't miss it. Here's Part 2!
