This year, four talented students from post-secondary schools across the United States and Canada have been awarded $2,500 each to pursue their careers in the trades.

The need for skilled trades workers is pressing, with over 320,000 welding professionals projected to be needed by 2029.
To address this shortage, Metal Supermarkets established the Trade School Scholarship in 2022, and has since awarded $40,000 to students pursuing valuable careers in the trades.
This year’s recipients, Bryce Bain, Kristina Glasow, Jackson Owens, and Jadea Smith, demonstrate a passion for their chosen fields and a commitment to excellence.

Bryce Bain, from Norman, Oklahoma, will use the scholarship to continue his welding studies at Tulsa Welding School. His goal?Becoming a certified welding inspector.
Kristina Glasow, from Simpsonville, South Carolina, is pursuing a career in the automotive field, with a focus on custom vehicle modifications and classic car restorations.
Jackson Owens, from Spicer, Minnesota, is studying industrial welding at Ridgewater College and operates a mobile welding business.
And Jadea Smith, from Eganville, Ontario, Canada, is a registered welding apprentice with the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship program.

The selection process for the Trade School Scholarship was rigorous, with a judging panel consisting of Metal Supermarkets’ corporate staff and franchisees from across North America.
