My Interview With Color Glo’s Mandi Brandon
That’s Mandi Brandon, the Operations Manager for Color Glo. We go way back.
To be more specific, I’ve known Mandi since 2012. She’s good people.
In fact, I got to meet Mandi in-person, when she flew me up to their Minneapolis headquarters to speak at one of Color Glo’s franchisee conventions.
Subsequently, during my day and half there, I met a lot of their franchisees. I found them to be quite the happy, enthusiastic bunch.
In addition, I got to meet her family…the folks behind Color Glo International. Talk about people who care about their franchisees!
And if you know me at all, you know I’m picky as hell when it comes to my business (and personal) relationships. Translation:
I only promote franchise opportunities that have ethical people behind them and that care about their franchisees. And Color Glo is one of them.
Let’s dig in.
Color Glo: A Restoration And Repair Franchise Opportunity
Me: Can you provide a brief overview of Color Glo and what sets it apart from competitors in the market?
Mandi: Color Glo International is the World Leader in restoration and repair of leather, vinyl, velour, cloth and hard plastics commonly found in the markets of Automotive, Aircraft, Marine and Furniture.
Formally incorporated in 1975 Color Glo began franchising in 1982. Today in hundreds of markets throughout the world. Color Glo products are proven everyday to offer the correct results and best value every time they are put to the test.

That was incredible. Right?
Me: When did Color Glo start franchising?
Mandi: We initially began our franchising in the United States and have since then expanded into Canada and 52 countries worldwide.
Me: What sets Color Glo apart, Mandi?
Mandi: We are a 3rd generation family business that takes great pride and enthusiasm growing our restoration and repair brand every day!
We’re also the only ISO Certified company within our field of training and expertise. This is a huge globally recognized accomplishment for us 9 years and going strong!
That’s because our products are primarily water based with a focus on our environment and your family. Our labs focus on creating products with water based ingredients and formulas – just to mention a few items that set Color Glo apart!
Me: What is the initial investment range to open a ColorGlo restoration and repair franchise?
Mandi: $56,300.00 to $61,375.00. This includes the Initial Fee, Start-up fee, Equipment and Supplies, Working capital, and even Travel Expenses while training.
Me: The pandemic has brought challenges to many businesses including restoration franchises. How did your restoration and repair franchise system adapt, and what lessons did you learn from navigating through such uncertain times?
Mandi: When the pandemic hit, we immediately started to think outside the box in regards to what we could do to help our communities through this.
That said, it was clear to us that expanding into sanitizing was not only needed, but something our team and brand could do so with great success that would truly benefit everyone involved.
With that we expanded our product line adding disinfecting products and equipment for our franchisees. This not only allowed them to grow their customer base, but to provide safe and effective sanitizing services to schools, churches, government buildings and so much more, helping protect families and our environment.
Color Glo Technology
Me: As technology continues to evolve, how do you incorporate innovation into your franchise model to stay ahead in the industry?
Mandi: Technology can certainly make things tricky but also very exciting.
Rather than fear technology we have embraced it with the heads on approach. This has allowed us to stay informed, educated and prepared for the “next best thing” within our field of expertise.
This includes but is not limited to, in-person seminars, trade shows, educational meetings both in person and online. Growing our brand isn’t just our job, it’s truly our passion and technology growth is certainly a stepping stone that helps pave our way.
Me: Franchisee satisfaction is crucial for long-term success. How do you maintain strong relationships with your franchisees and address their concerns or challenges?
Mandi: We couldn’t agree more! Franchisee satisfaction is always on our radar and is constantly being nurtured and flourished.
Not only do we pay for outside corporations to conduct annual, non-bias, confidential franchisee satisfaction surveys, we also conduct our own quarterly franchisee satisfaction surveys internally.
More importantly, we maintain call logs and in person visits to our franchisees to personally reach out, say hello, support them and their families and simply take time to catch up over a good meal and conversation.
Combined, these processes have proven to be very effective for our brand; just ask one of our franchisees!
Restoration Franchises: Color Glo’s Vision For The Future
Me: What is your vision for the future of your franchise company, and how do you plan to achieve sustained growth and expansion in this space?
Mandi: I am excited when I think of the future and all that it has to offer to our franchise family.
Simply stated, in my nearly 26 years with Color Glo, I have been blessed to see a small idea created by my grandfather, Everett C. Smith, grown into a global opportunity and very successful brand.
And because Color Glo allows its franchisees the freedom to choose and work as many or as few services that we offer, the sky truly is the limit!
Me: Is there anything else you’d like to tell my readers-some of who may want to contact you about becoming a Color Glo franchisee?
Mandi: Something new we are offering is additional one on one training for new franchisees at their location within 90 days from the start of their business. This happens with one of our Master Trainers.
And note, this all happens at our cost for the travel, training and housing while they are training the new franchisee.
We have found this has been a great boost for the franchisee regarding further relationship building, starting new accounts and establishing a solid income – to name a few of the benefits! 🙂
Me: That sounds awesome! Thank you for telling my readers some of the things that make Color Glo a true top-shelf restoration and repair franchise opportunity.
