It’s that time of year, again.

The team over at Franchise Direct has put together their annual Top 100 Global Franchises report.

Franchise Direct puts a lot of time and effort into each and every report they do. A lot of research…deep research, is done at headquarters, and the results are always top-notch.

I linked to the 2013 Top Global Franchises report last year, and this year I’m doing the same.

More Global Connectivity

Franchising is global. More and more countries are starting to realize just how powerful franchising is, and how the franchise model can be leveraged to foster economic growth.

More areas of the world are becoming connected. That means that more opportunities are being created. Business opportunities…franchise opportunities.

And, these connections aren’t as expensive as they used to be. In some cases, complete computer systems aren’t needed to be in business. Mobile technology has opened up a lot of opportunities for a lot more people. Business can be conducted with a PayPal-connected Droid or iPhone.

And, mobile technology is still in its infancy. Imagine how mobile technology will look 5 years from now. Imagine how franchisors will be leveraging it in the future.

This is only the beginning.

The Franchise Direct Top 100 Global Franchises

Before I send you over to the entire Top 100 Global Franchises list, take a look at some of the particulars concerning ranking methodology.

From the Franchise Direct website:

Each of the franchises that appear in The Top 100 Global Franchises has excelled at international expansion, investing time and resources to acquire linguistic capabilities while combining them with cultural sensitivities. Due to the dismantling of trade barriers, franchises have achieved better economies of scale which allow them to grow and develop in foreign markets.

  • System size, based on number of units
  • Company sales revenue
  • Stability and growth
  • Support for prospective and current franchisees
  • Environmental policies
  • Corporate citizenship

With that information in mind, here are the Franchise Direct Top 100 Global Franchises

We Visited A Franchise Expo
My wife and I are interested in starting a business so we visited a franchise expo. Afterwards, we were contacted by a couple of franchisors and we soon found ourselves deeply immersed in researching these particular franchises. We needed to take a step back and take stock of the bigger picture: 'Is a franchise right for us? Right now? What types of franchises would suit us?' We needed an independent and knowledgeable perspective. A paid consultation with Joel Libava clarified some of our thinking and gave us some useful ideas to pursue!" "
