McDonald’s Shuts Down All CosMc’s Locations: What Happened & What’s Next?

If you were hoping to grab another Churro Latte or Popping Pear Slush at CosMc’s, we’ve got some sad news.

In a nutshell, less than two years after its cosmic debut, McDonald’s has announced that all CosMc’s locations are closing for good.

That said, here’s everything you need to know about the closure—and what it means for your next McDonald’s run.

The End of CosMc’s

Launched in 2023, CosMc’s was McDonald’s bold attempt at a café-style chain focused on creative drinks and a vibrant, out-of-this-world vibe.

Despite the excitement, McDonald’s revealed that CosMc’s will be gradually shutting down all its locations. The CosMc’s app will also be discontinued at the end of June.

Why Is CosMc’s Closing?

While the official statement doesn’t go into detail about the reasons behind the closure, it’s clear that McDonald’s is shifting its strategy.

The company emphasized that the experiment wasn’t a waste. In fact, they’re planning to bring some “CosMc’s-inspired” flavors to McDonald’s menus as part of a new U.S. beverage test.

What’s Next for CosMc’s Fans?

If you loved CosMc’s unique drinks, there’s hope!

In fact, McDonald’s has created a new team dedicated exclusively to beverages. That means new and innovative drinks could soon appear at your local McDonald’s, inspired by the CosMc’s menu.

Some of the standout drinks from CosMc’s included:

  • Coconaut Cold Brew
  • Pistachio Swirl Shaken Espresso
  • Iced Vanilla Matcha Latte
  • Churro Latte
  • Berry Hibiscus Sour-Ade
  • Sprite Moonsplash
  • Popping Pear Slush

While there’s no word yet on which items will make the cut, fans are keeping their fingers crossed that some (or all!) of these creative beverages will join the McDonald’s lineup.

Final Thoughts

Although it’s kind of sad that CosMc’s is closing, its legacy may live on in the form of new drink options at your local McDonald’s franchise restaurant. So if you’re a fan of fun, flavorful beverages, keep an eye out for what’s next at the Golden Arches.

Stay tuned for updates as McDonald’s rolls out its new drink offerings!
