School of Rock CEO Dzana Homan, who was receiving a large number of complaints about her leadership, was just replaced by Rob Price. He was the chief operating officer of Wawa, a Delaware County-based convenience store chain. In his new position, Price is going to focus on growing the franchise brand and more.
Speaking of new positions, Bruce Lane has joined the executive team at Quaker Steak & Lube®. He’s going to be the vice president of franchise services. Lane will be responsible for leading the brand’s aggressive franchise development efforts and franchise operations. In addition, he’ll be spearheading strategic efforts to expand the popular restaurant chain’s footprint nationwide. Read more
Good news for franchising: The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) said that it was finally rescinding the agency’s interpretation of joint employer, treating it as unlimited joint employer liability.
“We are pleased the DOL is taking first steps to undo this costly regulation created by the previous administration,” said IFA’s Vice President of Public Affairs Matt Haller, in a press statement. You can read more about this NLRB decision here.

The Small Business Jobs Index decreased 0.24 percent to 100.10 in June, its lowest level since late 2011.
