The Franchise King®

William Arthur Gardner, September 11, 2001

For 18 years, William Gardner called his wife, Liz, every morning when
he got to work. Last Mother's Day, {2001} he bought her a fig tree, in
celebration of their Italian roots. It produced one little fig last
summer. She ate it a week or so after Sept. 11. It was delicious.

William was employed at Cantor Fitzgerald as a systems analyst, and his office was in the World Trade Center.

I found this short letter written by William's wife on an online tribute page;

My dear Bill,

Seven
years now and we miss you everyday since then…Andrew is FINALLY in
college and Gregory is planning on moving to another state…The boys
are young men now and I've become their best friend…I am sure you are
so proud of them as I am…How we missed you on Andrew's Graduation day
but in my heart of hearts I could feel you beside him as he took the
stage to receive his diploma…Continue to watch over us…We love you
forever…

Love,

Liz, Gregory and Andrew

Liz also said this, of William;

"He made me feel like Cindy Crawford, and believe me
I'm not. I always said this is too good to be true, this
can't last. Because he was just that devoted to the three
of us. He was extremely devoted to me. I had it good, I
really did. I think that's why I go on, because we had it
so good. I want my kids to have that, too."
