If you were to buy a franchise, what would winning look like to you?
Think about it for a moment. What are you seeing? What’s the visual?
What is your visual?
Define Success
What are your goals?
If you decide to pull the trigger, and actually buy a franchise…become an Owner, what would need to happen for you to consider your business to be a winner…to be a success?
Seriously: What would success “look” like like? What would success “feel” like?
What would make the risk you took worth it?
Can you define success in a personal way?
You should. You should need to write down a few things…very specific things, that you feel will make what you’re thinking of doing-worth it.
After all, no risk-no reward, right?
Quotes On Risk
“Almost everything worthwhile carries with it some sort of risk, whether it’s starting a new business, whether it’s leaving home, whether it’s getting married, or whether it’s flying in space.”
Chris Hadfield“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
Elizabeth Appell“Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.”
Denis Waitley“Between calculated risk and reckless decision-making lies the dividing line between profit and loss.”
Charles Duhigg“You can measure opportunity with the same yardstick that measures the risk involved. They go together.”
Earl Nightingale
“If we listened to our intellect, we’d never have a love affair. We’d never have a friendship. We’d never go into business because we’d be too cynical. Well, that’s nonsense. You’ve got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down.”
Annie Dillard
“You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can’t get there by bus, only by hard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you’re doing. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover will be yourself.”
Alan Alda
“When you play it too safe, you’re taking the biggest risk of your life. Time is the only wealth we’re given.”

What Winning Looks Like In Franchising
Let’s go with “making a lot of money” as the #1 win in franchising for most people.
You are in it for the money, right? (Okay, maybe not just for the money, but the money part is important) But, what else would make owning a franchise a winning proposition for you?
Would winning in franchising include one of these things?
- Having more freedom-as opposed to working for someone else
- Having more control than you would ever have at a regular job
- Building equity- BizEquity
- Accomplishing something “big“
- Establishing a legacy for your kids
- Adding new jobs to your local community
Anything else? What would winning in franchising look like to you?
