I really hope not. My daughter and I used to visit our local Petland franchise store to kind of check things out. We had heard rumors of Petland's alleged practice of buying their puppies from those nasty puppy mills. (In Ohio, some of these alleged puppy mills are located right in the heart of Amish country.) Nice.
A federal court in Arizona has just issued a ruling allowing a lawsuit to
proceed against Petland, Inc. based on allegations that the retail
chain is routinely selling unhealthy puppy mill puppies to unsuspecting
consumers. Petland is the nation's largest chain of pet stores that
sells puppy mill dogs, according to The Humane Society website.
What has your experience been, either as a Petland franchisee, or a customer of Petland's?

Laura,
Thank you so much for chiming in and also for sharing those valuable links.
As a fellow dog lover, I know you hate hearing about puppy mills. I still don’t understand how some of our fellow human beings could subject helpless little puppies to living in filthy, and cramped conditions-just to make added profits.
The Franchise King®
I would never buy a dog or a cat from a pet store under any circumstances.
I would always suggest that if you want a purebred dog or cat, first consider a breed rescue group (like GRIN – “Golden Retrievers In Need” here in Ohio) to find the perfect pet. If nothing doing there, do your research on a reputable breeder – one that follows a set of ethics set up by their respective breed group.
If you have a breed in mind and want to learn more about it’s temperament, health issues, and how to contact the breed groups, the Embrace Pet Health Center has a lot of detailed information to help you out. http://www.embracepetinsurance.com/PetHealth/default.aspx
