This Franchise Business Fights MRSA

School-Bus-415

I had never heard of MRSA until I read a press release concerning a commercial cleaning franchise that actually has a product and a service that helps combat this nasty disease.

MRSA is actually a staph infection. Most staph infections can be cured with antibiotics.

This is what MRSA stands for;

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria. Do you see the word, “resistant” in there? That’s the problem. It’s resistant to most antibiotics.

So, what does this have to do with franchising?

(Warning; I’m going to describe some of the symtoms of MRSA, now. Gross.)

From the South Dakota Health Department website;

In schools most MRSA infections are skin infections that may appear as pustules or boils which often are red, swollen, painful, or have pus or other drainage. These skin infections commonly occur at sites of visible skin trauma, such as cuts and abrasions, and areas of the body covered by hair (e.g., back of neck, groin, buttock, armpit, beard area of men).

It gets a little gross here;

Almost all MRSA skin infections can be effectively treated by drainage of pus with or without antibiotics. More serious infections, such as pneumonia, bloodstream infections, or bone infections, are very rare in healthy people who get MRSA skin infections.

That’s what MRSA is, and does.

Jan-Pro (a commercial cleaning franchise) is going after MRSA. Big time. In schools all around the country. They are on the cutting-edge. Hopefully, some other janitorial franchises will jump on board soon.

Go to my post over at OPEN Forum by American Express to read a story about how one school system is reporting no outbreaks of this disease after a visit from the local franchise owner of Jan-Pro.
