Franchise Industry Sentiment Is Extremely Positive

Franchising is an important-and growing part of the New Zealand economy. Things really seem to be looking up in New Zealand according to a recent industry report. In other words, franchise industry sentiment is extremely positive in New Zealand.

The Franchising New Zealand 2012 survey, conducted by Massey University in collaboration with Griffith Business School, indicates New Zealand has 446 individual franchise systems comprising some 22,400 units (owned mostly by franchisees). The survey also suggests local franchise systems employ some 100,000 people. Finally, local expert estimates of total franchise system turnover range from $15 to $25 billion – suggesting franchising is a strong contributor to New Zealand GDP – as it is around the world. Basically, franchising rocks!

The Franchising Confidence Index represents the views and expectations of franchising in New Zealand.

According to the report, sentiment is good…great, actually, and remains so across the industry.

Franchisors remain positive about franchisee profitability levels – an important key performance indicator in the world of franchising.

The more positive things look, the more positive people and companies feel, and that leads to investment.

Franchising Surveys

Surveys are an important part of any industry. They can point out trends, show areas that need improvement, and point out things that weren’t known, pre-survey.

Franchise Direct did an interesting survey in 2013.

From their website:

By periodically carrying out a survey to find out more about our users, we examine the topics that matter the most to potential and existing franchise industry professionals. This includes understanding which viable franchise investment opportunities interest our users and what motivates them to enter and grow within the world of franchising.”

Basically, the Franchise Direct team wanted to know what visitors to their website were thinking when they arrived…what their expectations were. Etc.

Look at the Franchise Direct Survey.

Do you think that industry surveys are important?
