Work From Home Now!
Working from home sounds like a cool idea. A lot of potential small business owners dream of sitting on their couches, with their laptop, making gobs of money.
It’s a nice visual.
Or, forget the laptop, and maybe stuff some envelopes. Of course, you can grab the laptop again and transcribe some medical information, or become a Google specialist. These can all be work at home businesses.
But exactly what types of businesses are they? Do any of these “opportunities” sound like they could be franchises?
I always tell people that one way to tell if an “opportunity‘ is a franchise or not, is to look at the start-up costs involved. Please allow me to be blunt, here;
If the total up-front investment is $185, it’s not a franchise offering.
It’s usually one of two things. It’s Multi Level Marketing, or as some like to call it, Network Marketing, or it’s a Business Opportunity. (It may even be what’s called, a distributorship)
I need to share some very important information with you. Some Network Marketing companies are calling their little opportunities “franchises.” Don’t get scammed. They’re not franchises. (If you know of any, call them out in the comment section, please)
Here’s the definition of a scam, by the way;
A scam is a scheme for making money by deceptive, dishonest, or fraudulent means.
So, how can you tell the differences? How can you prevent getting burned? Which is which?
Go to this article over at Small Business Trends, that’s how!
And, be careful when you see a “Work From Home Now!” advertisement.
Work From Home Opportunities; Which Ones Are Genuine Franchise Opportunities?
There are hundreds of home-based franchise opportunities to choose from. The trick is to find one that makes sense for you-in your own situation.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
1. Are you comfortable selling?
Most home-based franchise opportunities are sales-oriented. Can you-and will you sell the products and/or services offered? How good are you at selling…at sales?
2. Will you leave your house?
There aren’t many franchise business opportunities that allow you to stay at home all day. Sitting in front of your computer doing some work will be necessary, for sure. But, expect to have to get out of the office and into your car once in awhile. (At least once in awhile)
3. Are you thinking of buying a home-based franchise because of it’s low cost of entry?
Don’t buy a franchise just because it’s a low investment. Please.
A low investment can quickly turn into a not so low investment if you have to keep putting money into your business to keep it afloat.
