Allan Soirefman must have really liked my presentation on franchising he heard at a local outplacement office. That’s because he signed up for a public seminar I held a month later, in conjunction with National City Bank, at their east suburban facility.
Allan, a downsized American Greetings exec….
Was ready for a change. I remember meeting with him. It wasn’t a "Joel, I am looking at all my options kind of in-person meeting at my Chagrin Blvd. Office. It was a " Joel, I want to be my own boss, and I am ready" kind of meeting.
During our 2+ hour meeting, I was able to get a sense of what Alan was all about. The two things that really stuck out, and I remember them well, were:
1. Allan’s passion and energy for sales
2. Allan’s assessment of the senior market, and the math that goes along with it.
Alan ended up putting all of his energy towards BrightStar Healthcare, a young franchise company out of Chicago. JD and Shelley Sun, the owners of BrightStar are smart, and focused individuals. Even though they are young franchisors, they have the courage to not let everyone who inquires about their opportunity get too far into the investigative process unless they have the right qualities for a business like theirs.
Running a senior medical care franchise requires lots of determination, and a real passion for helping families through difficult times. On a personal note, when Alan was investigating the BrightStar franchise opportunity, my late father, Jerry Libava, was going through hell. He had Lung Cancer, and some home medical care was starting to be administered. JD Sun knew about the situation, and without a seconds hesitation one day, offered the services of one of his social workers at their corporate office. That made a huge impact on me, at the time, and I will never forget it. That is one reason why I choose to work with BrightStar Healthcare. I continue to search for potential franchise owners in Northeast Ohio, and if you have some interest, or know of anyone who may be a good fit for this type of franchise, please have them contact me, Joel Libava at 216-831-2610…
