Florida continues to attract franchise expansion. Now, a major Crunch Fitness franchisee is adding another location to its growing footprint in the state.

CR Fitness Holdings LLC is preparing to open Crunch Maitland. The new club will bring the franchise group closer to 65 Crunch Fitness locations in Florida. The opening is scheduled for August 20, 2026.

That’s significant growth.

Crunch Fitness Franchise Expands in Florida

CR Fitness Holdings is one of the largest franchisees in the Crunch system. The company has built a substantial presence across several states. But Florida remains a particularly important market.

And there’s a reason for that.

Florida continues to experience population growth. The state also has large metropolitan markets and communities where consumers are looking for affordable fitness options.

What is Crunch Fitness?

Crunch Fitness has built its franchise model around what it calls a high-value, low-price approach.

The concept combines relatively affordable memberships with large clubs, equipment, group fitness, personal training and other amenities.

Currently, the Crunch Fitness says its franchise system has more than 500 open locations and commitments for more than 1,300 franchise locations across 41 states and six countries.

The company’s Florida growth has included markets throughout the state. Its expansion has also extended beyond Florida into other states.

This latest opening is interesting for another reason.

It demonstrates how a franchisee can build significant scale inside a franchise system.

That can create advantages.

For example, larger franchise operators may have more experience with real estate, construction, staffing, marketing and day-to-day operations. They can also develop systems for opening multiple locations.

But size does not automatically equal success.

Anyone considering a fitness franchise should look beyond the number of locations being opened. Rapid expansion can look impressive. It does not tell you whether individual franchisees are making money.

That distinction matters.

Do Your Research

Prospective franchise buyers should study the franchisor’s Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) before making a decision.

Plus, they need to examine Item 19 of the FDD for financial performance information, if provided. Finally, they should also talk with current and former franchisees.

Florida’s fitness market may offer opportunity. It also offers plenty of competition.

Crunch’s continued expansion shows that the company and its franchisees believe there is room to grow.

For prospective franchise buyers, the bigger question is not simply whether Crunch is growing.

It’s whether your particular location could produce an acceptable return after rent, payroll, royalties, marketing fees, debt service and other expenses.

That’s where the real franchise research begins.

There is another issue worth watching.

A franchise system can look very attractive when you see dozens of new locations opening.

But franchise growth can mean different things to different people. For the franchisor, more locations can mean more royalties and greater brand presence.

For a franchisee, each new location represents a major financial commitment. Those two perspectives are not always identical.

If you’re considering buying a fitness franchise in Florida, don’t let the growth numbers make the decision for you.

Look at the costs. Study the competition. Understand the territory. Talk to franchisees who are already operating clubs. And find out what happens after the grand opening excitement fades. The opportunity may be real. But so are the risks.
