Maybe we all need to go back-to-school-when it comes to marketing…
Before the internet, things like coupons, and in this case, Old Navy coupons, were commonplace.
Here's a great example of a traditional coupon marketing campaign….
***********************************************************************************************************
In their 2nd annual co-promotion, Great Clips, a 3,000+ unit hair care franchise, and Old Navy, a trusted clothing brand with over 1,000 retail stores, are teaming up to capitalize on the back-to-school crowd that will be bursting through retail doors of all shapes and sizes in the coming weeks.
During the back-to-school promotional period, Great Clips franchise salons will give away a $10 off Old Navy coupon to everyone—not just school-age kids—who comes in for a haircut. And, the coupon offer from Old Navy is only available to Great Clips customers. The offer is good for $10 off any $50 purchase at Old Navy—a 20% discount.

Do not buy a franchise until you know EXACTLY how to do thorough research.

Franchise folks; this is simple, yet brilliant marketing. It's even-shall we say..traditional marketing.
Of course, there's a social media marketing twist to this too. You're reading this TypePad* blog. You may even decide to Tweet about it, or click that Facebook "like" button down below, so others will learn about this cool promotion.
After all, we all need to save some money, these days.

King,
I think that it’s great to see some old-fashioned marketing in the form of real live coupons being used, too.
Thank you for reporting on this joint-marketing venture.

David,
Thanks for the comment. Great Clips has done a fine job with all the spokes of the wheel for years. I’m not surprised that they were able to get a partnership like this.
My daughter, (The Franchise Princess) is an avid Old Navy shopper. I get the Old Navy emails sent to my accounts, and they have some of the best email marketing letters I’ve ever sen.
Two strong companies that “get it.”
Fantastic!

Not sure if my last comment went through but I think this is form of marketing is so simple yet effective. I also think it would be interesting to find out how such a company came to an agreement like this. Thanks for the post.
